- Page 37, after line 4 by inserting: “DIVISION ___ RURAL BIRTHING HOSPITAL FUND Sec. ___. NEW SECTION . 135.90 Rural birthing hospital fund.
- As used in this section, “birthing hospital” means the same as defined in section 135.131.
- A rural birthing hospital fund is created in the state treasury under the control of the department. Moneys in the fund are appropriated to the department to distribute grants for the purpose of expanding access to birthing hospitals across the state, including funding the establishment of birthing hospitals in rural areas of the state that experienced closures of birthing hospitals from July 1, 2021, through July 1,
- Notwithstanding section 8.33, moneys appropriated in this section that remain unencumbered or unobligated at the close of the fiscal year shall not revert but shall remain available for expenditure for the purposes designated until the close of the succeeding fiscal year.
- Notwithstanding section 12C.7, subsection 2, interest or earnings on moneys in the fund shall be credited to the fund. Sec. ___. RURAL BIRTHING HOSPITAL FUND —— APPROPRIATION. There is appropriated from the general fund of the state to the department of health and human services for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027, the following amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the purposes designated: For deposit in the rural birthing hospital fund created in section 135.90 as enacted in this division of this Act: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 10,000,000”
