What’s in it
As part of a decree of dissolution or decree of annulment, a party to a marriage may request a change in the person’s name to either the name appearing on the person’s birth certificate or to the name the person had immediately prior to the marriage. This bill provides that if a party does so, the court is required to issue a separate document evidencing the party’s name change. The bill requires that the document issued does not contain any other information relating to the decree of dissolution or decree of annulment.
